Dave Thomas grew up in a working class family where his father was enlisted in the Air Force and his mother was a homemaker. Dave’s first job in San Antonio was a paper route when he was 13 years old delivering those antigue daily written periodicals called “newspapers” after he came home from Holmes High School. After 20 years of service in the Air Force, Dave’s Dad retired as a MSgt (E-8) and the family moved out to East Texas where they struggled to run a small convenience store on Lake Sam Rayburn selling gas, groceries, ice, bait and tackle.

After graduating from High School with a class size of 28 studuents, Dave Thomas moved to Austin to go to school at the University of Texas where he studied Special Education and Psychology. During the summers while in college, Dave Thomas worked at the Texas Lions Camp in Kerrville, Texas working with children who had disabilities. Dave enjoyed working with children from all over Texas. This is where he first learned Sign Language and Spanish.

After graduating from college in Austin in 1992, Dave Thomas worked for the Texas Commission for the Blind and the Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired as a Rehabilitation Teacher working with adults and children with visual impairments. After a few years, Dave decided to go to law school at Texas Tech Universiy in Lubbock, Texas.

During law school in Lubbock, Dave Thomas was able to spend a summer in Guanajuato, Mexico. During this time, Dave traveled thoughout Central Mexico increasing his fluency in Spanish and International Law. Dave also competed in several Trial competitions while in law school and was a member of the Board of Barristers, a group of elite law students who excelled in the Trial competitions.

In February of 1998, Dave Thomas took the Texas Bar Exam early while he was still in his 3rd year of law school and also in his first year of the Graduate School of Business at Texas Tech University. When he got his passing results in May of 1998, he was licensed to practice law as soon as he graduated from law school that same month. Dave Thomas continued in school as a full time student and completed his Masters in Business Administration in December of 1999.

Dave Thomas moved back to San Antonio in February of 2000 and accepted a job with the Bexar County District Attorney’s Office as an Assistant District Attorney where he worked for 3 1/2 years learning the ins and out of prosecuting criminal law cases. In October of 2002, Dave married Minerva Torres whom he met in Lubbock in law school. In August of 2003, Dave joined his wife, Minerva defending those accused of crimes and using his knowledge from the DA’s Office to the benefit of his clients.

Currently, Dave Thomas works many hours a week for his clients, but when he is not at the office or in the courthouse, he may be at the Bowling Alley where he currently mainatiains an average in the 180’s. He has enjoyed bowling his entire life and even bowled in college for both the University of Texas Longhorns and for the Texas Tech Red Raiders. Since there was absolutely no chance Dave was going to become a professional bowler, he decided to become a professional attorney instead.
